Location map Golden sands

Perhaps one of the things that distinguish Golden Sands in comparison to other popular sea resorts is the fact that the building boom has not overshadowed the lush natural setting of the area. In this sense, the newly built hotels were constructed in harmony with the natural surroundings and have each found their nook amidst the stunning fauna and preserved woodlands.
Located some 18 km. north of Varna and near the Golden Sands National Park, Golden Sands is the largest resort along the northern part of the Black sea coastline. There are 61 hotels and 10 luxury villas Its location is 490 km. east of Sofia and naturally merges with the St. St. Konstantin and Elena Resort. Dotted with hotels, the beach strip is some 3.5 km. long and up to 100 meters wide in some places.
The resort gets its name partly because of its pure, golden quartz sands, while some believe that the current name is a legacy from an old legend. According to it, pirates dug out an impressive gold treasure in the sands just north of Varna and the land avenged the pirates by turning their gold into sand grains.
The Golden Sands National Park is formed from hot mineral springs and verdant forests cascading from the Frangen Plateau.  It is 9.2 km. wide and on a massive area of 1320.70 hectares with varying oak trees, elms, maple, sycamore, pine, cedar, poplar trees and others. Among the animal species found are 8 reptile, 2 amphibious and 25 mammal species.
