Holidays in Golden sands
Golden Sands area is abundant not only in entertainment but in possibilities for leisure, recreational and cultural tourism as well. Perhaps the most interesting side holidays one can take is to the heart of the National Park and observe the rich woodlands and forests with its many mammal, reptile and amphibian species. With a natural terrace- like character, Golden sands permits hikers and extreme sports lovers who can reach the highest spot in the park at 269.3 meters.
Albena is one of the newest Bulgarian resorts and is only some 15 minutes away from Golden sands by car and is a Blue Flag award winner for pristine beaches. It’s quiet and laid back location is often the preferred spot for many international festivals and concerts. The mineral water in the resort is lightly mineralized and rich in minerals and other elements which make it especially beneficial for thalassotherapies, anti- stress programs and beautifying treatments.
As the oldest resort St. St. Constantine and Hlena carries the name of the nearby 18th century monastery. It too offers immaculate beaches, hot mineral springs, balneology complexes and many great hotels for accommodation.
The Aladzha rock monastery is only 6 kilometers away from the Golden Sands and dates back to the early Middle Ages. Monks’ cells, rooms and sanctuaries are dug directly into the limestone rock and are located on two levels. To this day, a few of the frescoes on the walls are preserved (mostly in the chapel). The Katakombite (The Catacombs) is a similar monastery complex, with fewer remains and is about 1 km. from the Aldazha site.
Famous golf players Gary Player and Ian Woosnam are actively involved in developing Bulgaria as a major golf destination. A vacation to Balckik will let you enjoy golfing at the two golf courses there.
